Why Dental Hygiene Is So Important

Nearly 75 percent of American adults suffer from various forms of periodontal (gum) disease and don’t know it. Though reversible in its initial stages, mounting evidence of the relationship between oral bacteria and life-threatening diseases such as cancer; heart disease; diabetes, and respiratory ailments.

Preventive and Restorative Dentistry

We here at Harmony Dental Care make your health our priority

A preventive strategy is a cooperative effort by the patient, dentist and dental staff to preserve dental hygiene and prevent the onset, progress and recurrence of dental diseases and conditions.  We emphasize the value of at home care with daily flossing, brushing and a balanced diet. However, at home dental care is only a fraction of the preventive strategy. We also value the importance of regular dental exams, cleanings and x-rays. Our thorough examinations will provide early detection and treatments to prevent small problems from developing into major ones.

Comprehensive Dental Exam

Our office utilizes the most advanced dental equipment to provide extensive and comprehensive dental examination. The examination includes the following services:

  • Examination of diagnostic x-rays
  • Gum disease evaluation. We provide laser and deep cleaning for many excessive gum treatment services
  • Examination of Tooth decay
  • Oral Cancer screening

Professional Dental Cleaning

Professional dental cleanings (dental prophylaxis) are performed by Registered Dental Hygienists.  Your cleaning appointment will include a dental exam and the following:

  • Removal of calculus (tartar)
  • Removal of plaque
  • Teeth polishing

Extractions

The Harmony Dental Care team prioritizes the healthiness of your overall oral hygiene. We values each and every tooth and we understand the impact the loss of a tooth would have on your appearance and health. However, when an extraction is necessary, we take it upon ourselves to guarantee the most comfortable procedure.

Restorative Care (Fillings), Inlays and Onlays:

To treat a cavity your dentist will remove the decayed portion of the tooth and then fill the area on the tooth where the decayed material was removed. Tooth fillings are also used to repair cracked or broken teeth and teeth that have been worn down from misuse (such as from nail-biting or grinding). As dental technology continues to advance on a daily basis, we make sure to provide our patients with all the advancements available. Although we continue to provide metal fillings if requested, the new advancement of tooth-colored composites are most commonly used at Harmony Dental Care.

Inlays and onlays are indirect fillings made from porcelain that are bonded to the tooth to repair damage and protect it from further decay. Inlays are customized to repair damage that lies within the cusp of a tooth, while onlays cover the entire top surface of a tooth.

In Depth Dental Procedures

Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" that is placed over a tooth -- to cover the tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, and improve its appearance. The crowns, when cemented into place, fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. Crowns are caps that are designed to fit over the entire surface area of a tooth and are used to support weak teeth, conceal imperfections, and relieve the pain and sensitivity caused by decay or other damage.

Bridges

A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) appliance to replace missing teeth. Dr. Noroozi will discuss the best options for your particular case. However, the most common bridge is usually made of porcelain fused to metal. This type of bridge consists of two crowns that go over two anchoring teeth and are attached to artificial teeth, filling the gap created by one or more missing teeth.

Partial and Complete Dentures

A denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue.  Often made from plastic or porcelain, dentures are made to closely resemble your natural teeth. Dentures are commonly used for patients who lost teeth due to age, decay or extraction. There are two types of dentures, complete and partial dentures.  Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length. At Harmony Dental Care, we value the importance of appearance. Dr. Noroozi and her team of experts will make the placement of your porcelain veneers in an easy three- step process that can take place in a span of three to five office visits. If you and the doctor decide to take the porcelain veneers route, we would go ahead and begin your case with an initial examination, which would include a preparation of the teeth through the removal of a thin layer of enamel (approximately .5 mm). An impression of the area will be made by our expert dental laboratory, which usually takes about 1-2 weeks. You will return for a third visit to have the veneers bonded to your teeth.

Teeth Bonding

Here at Harmony Dental Care, our goal is to build your confidence starting with that perfect smile. Dr. Noroozi and her team also offer dental bonding, a quick way to conceal chips, gaps and cracks in your teeth. During dental bonding, Dr. Noroozi will apply a tooth-colored resin material over your damaged teeth. Then, the resin material will be hardened with a special light, which bonds the material to the tooth. This process will improve your smiles in just minutes!

Invisalign and ClearCorrect

What is Invisalign and ClearCorrect

The clear alternative to traditional braces. A virtually invisible solution, so you can smile both during treatment and after. In fact, almost no one will know you are wearing them unless you tell. By using a series of clear, removable aligners that are changed about every two weeks. Invisalign gradually moves your teeth toward the smile you've always wanted.

The steps to a perfect and straight smile

  1. During the consultation, Dr. Noroozi will discuss your case in detail to determine if you're a good candidate for Invisalign. Invisalign now addresses many cases, from simple to more complex. Dr. Noroozi will determine if Invisalign is right for you. This will also be your opportunity to ask any questions you have about the treatment: costs, dental/orthodontic insurance, or any other concerns.
  2. Harmony Dental Care staff will take x-rays and impressions of your teeth, which Invisalign will use to create a digital 3-D image of them. From these images, Dr. Noroozi will determine a treatment plan.
  3. Once your treatment plan is determined, a series of clear, custom made aligners will be made specifically for you. They will be made of BPA-free plastic that can be comfortably worn daily and only need to be removed to eat or brush and floss your teeth.
  4. About every two weeks, you will begin wearing a new set of aligners as you continue to progress in your treatment. Every six weeks, you will have check up visits with us to track your progress.
  5. Before you know it, you will see improvement to a greater, straighter smile. It is recommended that you wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day throughout your entire treatment.
